BBL: Heat v Scorchers
Date: Wednesday 11 January
Time: 6:40pm (local time)
History: Played 7, Heat 3, Scorchers 4
- These sides played less than a week ago, with the Heat winning by 9 wickets
- The Heat have won only 36% of matches at the GABBA
- The Scorchers are 1-1 at the GABBA
For the second time in a week, the two best sides of the competition face off for tournament favouritism, this time in Brisbane. Their last match-up in Perth could not have gone better for the Heat, with their deadly batting line-up chasing down the respectable 173 not only with 9 wickets to spare, but also with five overs.
That sort of dominance with the bat has them as the best in the competition, but things will be very different come Wednesday night. As the best player in the Big Bash thus far, star batsman Chris Lynn has been called into the Australian ODI side. While it is a well-deserved selection, it leaves a considerable hole in the Heat’s top order- a 62 runs per innings sized hole. And while the Scorchers will be without their key allrounder Mitchell Marsh, they do have one of the best squads in the league to cover his loss. As the outsiders, the Perth side look great value.
